A Book Cuddle

Hello! I hope everyone is safe, well and happy. This past month has been crazy busy, I think we are now adjusting to more freedoms and it feels strange and overwhelming. At RRY HQ we had a celebration this month as our eldest man child graduated university, our hearts are literally bursting with pride. Unfortunately there are no graduations which is a big pile of crap when thousands of people are watching tennis and football! Both Alan and I never went to university and we wasn’t interested in further education so the university minefield was new to us. Not having a degree has never hindered my career but I often look back and wished I’d of done a art or textile design degree. However, who I was then wouldn’t ever think I would be who I am today. Did you stay in the career you did or thought you would do when you were leaving school? This past month we have introduced yak based yarn which adds so much depth to the dye, it’s utterly beautiful. I plan to dye me some skeins to make the Love Note Sweater but shop updates take priority at the minute. I seem to have lost motivation to knit. I have 3 WIP’s and still I’m looking for another. I can’t seem to submerge myself into a pattern at the moment and it’s really frustrating. Knitting is my happy place, my comfort and not enjoying it is alien to me. I hope this will change once I find that super pattern I can submerge myself into. I think it’s because none of my WIP’s are clothing or socks, they are all shawls and I love knitting something to wear. Last year I read an absolutely brilliant book called The Midnight Library by Matt Haig and then went onto read all of his other books on the back of it. Brilliant author, brilliant books but The Midnight Library was still my favourite. So, last week Matt released his new book The Comfort Book and it’s just a big huge hug in a book. It’s not a story but comforting quotes etc and after the last 18 months is just what you need.
